I know this article was written years ago, but I needed to respond. I am sitting here, nursing my fourth child, even though I won’t have all the milk he needs. I had the horrible two weeks of a crying newborn with my first child and empty pump bottles until my mother told me to give her formula. I cry a little bit with every new baby when I see I don’t have enough milk again. But I have nursed and supplemented all of them now, and there’s nothing like it, even if there’s a little tube hooked up too. This last time I used a bottle with a nasogastic tube in it like a straw and it has been the best and easiest by far, as well as the cheapest.
If only someone had examined me before birth and been prepared for the possibility postpartum. Thanks for this article and keep up the good work!
